Oh la la…..

Two hats and a dress…

and other crafting matters…..the crochet bug hasn’t left me yet….it must be the weather and all that time spent indoors…anyways two hats in two days is what I call very productive….loved making them both but I must admit that the bubble stitch was a very pleasant change from the other more regular stitches…and that pompom was delightful to make and little girl loves it!!!!

IMG_7630 IMG_7632

and here is a dress I made for little one last week….same pattern as before….she loves them both…she loves dresses full stop and I’m already working on the next one….a different one this time….watch this space 😉

Big sister asked for a poncho too….she wants it all black….so her mama is on to it…..give us a couple of more hours and I should be done……doesn’t look like much right now but you get the idea….a few more rows for length and then the cowl…..

It’s half term over here!!!!…..no big plans….lots of chillaxing……

Salaams y hasta la vista,

I made a poncho….

and so has every other blogger I get inspired by….see here and here and here…..everybody is making a poncho or two….have you jumped on the wagon yet?….no?!….you are missing out BIG time…..

IMG_7617

I went for the no tassels no borders look…less is more kind of approach…little one is very pleased and that’s what counts in my books…..what you think?

Wishing you all a smashing weekend,

Today’s harvest and …

other Plot 29 matters…

WP_20151022_11_53_42_Pro[1]

the little helper loves nothing more than pulling the root vegetables…..and of course she has to be in every single picture…..

The veg on the pic is pretty much what’s happening on the plot….a few more butternut squashes left, one more pumpkin and a couple of courgettes….hibernation is almost full on…we have started covering the beds not in use…..

My allotment neighbour,, the bee keeper, gave me two artichoke plants a few days ago ….here they are

WP_20151022_12_07_20_Pro[1] WP_20151022_12_07_25_Pro[1]

…they are perennials, so they should last me a few years to come…..and hopefully they will attract masses of bees…..

Definitely much quieter and the allotment….

Sewing matters….

the sewing bug took hold of me yesterday….I drove myself to the best spot in London for fabric shopping…all 15 shops on the same road…Goldhawk Road….bought three lovely fabrics…two thick warm Autumny cottons for little dresses and flannel for little pijamas….I only do little…..she is easy to please….

fabrics

as soon as the house went quiet, I was at the cutting table and not long after, at the sewing machine…..and voila…

dress

oh that…the cat…just to show you how quiet the house was 😉

Have a lovely restful Sunday…

P.S free pattern here

Almost there….but not quite…

a basket-full later….I thought I might have had enough to make a decent sized blanket…

IMG-20151016-WA0007[1]

but no…..I was wrong…when I lay them all out on the table you can see that I need at least another 30…..

IMG-20151016-WA0006[1]

Oh well…..see how much I can get done this weekend and that will be it…..cause I don’t think I’m going to be able to resist this beautiful yarn…..remember the poncho I mentioned last time?….well, look at these…..best thing? no colour changing …. 😉

Wishing you a peaceful and productive weekend….

Now watch me WIP….

now let me …..show you ….

Cause is that time of the year where outdoorsy activities start slowing down and more time is spent indoors…..cause there’s so much time one can spend online….cause is about time I looked through the various baskets holding unfinished crochet projects…..so yeah, time to turn all these granny squares into a blanket….actually , time to first frame each circle and then join them into a blanket…so yeah, one done a million or so more to go…..

WP_20151013_12_45_04_Pro[1]

And this is the time and place where I swear not to start any other project until I finish this one….not to go to a wool shop until I use up all the wool in my little under the stairs room…..but who am I fooling? oh well, is hard to stick to one thing when there’s so much eye candy out there….I’m thinking poncho for little one, I’m thinking cardigans…….

Have you started your crochet/knitting season yet? Wanna share your WIPs?

When life gives you beetroots…

make a cake…..a chocolate cake with beetroot in it….a delicious cake which tastes of nothing but chocolate but somehow fools you into believing that is healthy ….it’s got to be….it has beetroot in it!!!!

Very moist….very decadent…very appropriate as a middle of the English lesson break treat….dd14 did a good job….her friend liked it…well, you need something sweet and rich when dealing with Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations…..Picasso does not like chocolate….but he likes ice lolly…..

Have a good weekend….

P.S recipe here

These beauties….

so proud…our very first pumpkins…..very long in the making but so delightful to watch them grow and at last, they have turned the right colour and the stalk is brown….so now is just a matter of letting them dry….Archie , my allotment mentor, reckons until the end of the month….so, now lots of searching for the right recipe….papa wants some in couscous, I want some sort of cake or muffins, baby wants to carve them ;)…..oh the possibilities…

Not much else is happening on the allotment apart from the leeks and another two pumpkins and a few beets……..almost everything has been put to bed…..planning to do a big tidying up next weekend….insh’Allah…

Autumn walk, mushroom spotting …

Black Park is, without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite park within driving distance from our place. In less than thirty minutes we are there and as if by magic I’m immediately transported to my childhood……I swear, same trees, ferns, pine cones and paths….same streams, brooks and fallen trees……and today, at times, I felt I was following my older brother, running behind him to get to a mushroom he had spotted….only difference…he knew his stuff….we didn’t just pick them for fun….we took them home and dad would cook them….best omelettes ever…
