Crochet lessons are back….

nothing formal….just three friends together crocheting, drinking coffee, eating biscuits and chatting……it was so nice to get back together after so many months….life happens….but it looks like it’s going to be a regular thing once again…..insh’Allah…

One of the ladies (we will call her teacher)is a very accomplished crocheter and all things craft related so I like to take advantage of her presence at my place to learn a new stitch or technique…I’ve been wanting to learn tapestry crochet for a while and today was the day…..ta dah…..

a bit tricky but got there in the end…..that was just the practice run and now for the real thing I’m going for a harlequin blanket….watch this space…. 😉

Wishing you all a peaceful and productive week….

The simplest picnic blanket ever….

simple and practical and pretty…oh and I’ve used loads of left overs….even the backing is an old ikea fleecy blanket….what do you think?  We can’t wait for the warmer weather to make an appearance so we can have a picnic …..insh’Allah

Transplanting….

we’ve had the fig tree for a few year but not a fig yet….the folks on the fb gardening group reckon it was the lack of space…fig trees like to be contained but not constrained…insh’Allah the tree likes its new home and we get results this summer….

I searched the www for a big pot…100 litres pot and I found a few but I wasn’t prepared to pay over £20 for it…in the end hubby came up with the solution….we’ve use those recycled thingies …..I have two left and I’m thinking they might be perfect for an instant raised bed….no cutting , no nailing , no sweat 😉

Tidying up…

at the allotment….three raised beds ready for the potatoes….added some compost full of nutrients to the beds….let the soil absorb all that goodness before planting the potatoes in mid March….

WP_20160221_11_02_32_Pro[1]

Also managed to clean another three beds…mainly grass….a few weeds but nothing major…

A new blanket…

I’ve started another one!!!

I know I said I didn’t have the concentration levels needed for crochet right now but this one is a simple one….and it’is made up of granny  squares….a circle inside a square….. squares are less demanding and the job is kind of broken up into small chunks…..WP_20160218_14_12_30_Pro[1]

It is not going to be finished any time soon but that’s ok….I’ll do a few a day because the evenings are still longish…while I wait for the allotment to make more demands on me…….

Some sewing and lots of sowing…

my itchy fingers couldn’t take it any more….the greenhouse is not finished and dh tells me another week or so but just in case I’ve started indoors…I was really hopping to avoid the whole mess of pots on every windowsill in the house…oh well….these things happen….

Three varieties of tomatoes and cucumbers…and what do you think of the up cycled chilies propagator? Yes one of those pastry trays…..
