WIP no more…

another one bites the dust….I’ve really enjoyed my first tapestry crochet project….love the fact that it is reversible …..thinking of giving it another go on another project….most probably a wayuu bag…everywhere I look it’s all about wayuu patterns and wayuu bags and wayuu blankets…..

I did it and it felt so good….

the texture in my hands, the weight , the colours…..there I was sitting in front of the computer compiling to do lists and other stuff while listening to motivational TED speakers when just like that, I picked a crochet basket and went for it……I don’t know why I picked this one…I could have picked at least another two WIPs nearby but anyhow this one was the chosen one……

I managed to join together all the squares you see above and then this morning the need to do some crochet was still there so I carried on….I now have four rows of ten granny squares and I’m still in shock but I’ll get over it …..what on earth is going on…it’s not even cloudy outside!!!!

Crochet lessons are back….

nothing formal….just three friends together crocheting, drinking coffee, eating biscuits and chatting……it was so nice to get back together after so many months….life happens….but it looks like it’s going to be a regular thing once again…..insh’Allah…

One of the ladies (we will call her teacher)is a very accomplished crocheter and all things craft related so I like to take advantage of her presence at my place to learn a new stitch or technique…I’ve been wanting to learn tapestry crochet for a while and today was the day…..ta dah…..

Blankets and other Winter stuff…

PicMonkey Collage.jpg

It did not take my that long to finish off the granny squares blanket….I tell you the hiding of all those threads is the bit I dislike the most…..

I’ve already started a new blanket….it is not often that I pay for a pattern because let’s be honest pinterest and the net in general is full of free patterns but this one was kind of instant love…..the abacus blanket is different from what I usually crochet and I was ready for something different…it’s fun and that is all that matters right?

Sauerkraut….first time to make it but I know I’m going to love it…..I love pickled vegetables plus I’m on a journey to learn to preserve vegetables and fruits….I HAVE A DREAM you see…..one day I will be self sufficient blah blah blah and the Winter months will be long and I will need vegetables ….so yeah I will need a pantry full of Sauerkraut and pickles and chutneys and and….and in the meantime I can play around with the allotment surplus…..oh and I need this book.

And the flapjacks? dd15’s made up recipe …she is one clever girl and she wanted to use the pumpkin puree in the freezer so she came up with the flapjacks….

Winter is good…..Alhamdulilah…..

Almost there….but not quite…

a basket-full later….I thought I might have had enough to make a decent sized blanket…

IMG-20151016-WA0007[1]

but no…..I was wrong…when I lay them all out on the table you can see that I need at least another 30…..

Oh well…..see how much I can get done this weekend and that will be it…..cause I don’t think I’m going to be able to resist this beautiful yarn…..remember the poncho I mentioned last time?….well, look at these…..best thing? no colour changing …. 😉

I’m back…

and that is that…

I’ve been up and I’ve been low…

November hit me really hard…the shorter days…the less sunlight…something inside me wasn’t happy…it has taken me a while to adjust…

I guess I’m more of an outdoorsy person …but anyways …such is life and I’m a suck-it-in-and-get-on-with it  kind of person so no more moaning and for the sake of documenting and  showing off too,  I shall now show you some of my crochet creations I have managed in the weeks I’ve been absent from blogland…

Remember this…

Well …here is the finished blanket…I hope my little nephew likes it as much as I have enjoyed it making it for him…

Image

and Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved story time and role playing more than anything else…

Image

and when she asked her mummy for a red cape…her mama went online and found an easy pattern and with the help of her crochet teacher she had one ready for her in a matter of hours…now this little girl needs a basket…her mama is on to it 😉

Other things/WIPS  that have kept be sane busy…

The granny squares…not sure yet what I’m making…cushions for the patio area? …a blanket?…we’ll see….My first hat was fun to make and the first scarf easy peasy…Bob Wilson is the perfect teacher for beginners like me…
