G is for…

Gratitude…being thankful for what He, our creator has given you but also showing gratitude to those around us…
The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “He who does not thank people is unthankful to Allah.” [Abu Dawud]

Although Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) is the ultimate Bestower of all the good we receive, yet He commands us to thank the immediate source of the good too, the person or people through whom Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) sent the good to us. The people to whom we are most obliged during our lives, are our parents. Regarding them Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says, “… show thanks to Me, and to your parents…” [Al-Quran 31:14]

One of the early Muslims said: “Ingratitude for a kindness is one of the enormities (major sins). Gratitude consists of reciprocating it or supplicating for the person.” So, saying ‘Thank you’ is not enough. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) in His mercy has guided us to an appropriate course of action to show gratitude. We should be genuinely grateful and if we are able to return the favour we should do so. Otherwise, or additionally, we should pray for the person who did the favour. You need no wealth to make dua for somebody, yet it fulfills your obligation of showing gratitude to the person who does you a good turn.

As you can see showing gratitude does not cost the earth…repay kindness with kindness , a du’a (suplication) goes a long way to repay those who give you time, advice, and the many other favours that come in many forms and shape.
So THANK YOU all …
Salaams y hasta la vista,
Ines

E is for E-reader…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I LOVE MY KINDLE…
I guess all e-readers have pros and cons but mine does all I want it to do and more.
Comes with me to the doctors, to the airport, goes with me on long flights, even goes to bed with me… And I’ve heard that it can carry over two thousands books for me!! Imagine that!
What I like most about my kindle though, is the speed at which I can download a book. In a matter of seconds I have a new title ready to read and almost certainly cheaper that it’s paper form.
I can really think of any cons…well appart from the fact that you have to charge it and occasionally I have been caught out 🙂
Other than that my kindle is my new best friend after crochet of course 😉
Are you a modern 21st century reader or reluctant to move with the times?
I think I’m an inbetweener cause sometimes I still read a paperback just for the feel of it.
