It was inevitable…..

she just had to make her own pasta from scratch….a while back she found the machine at the back of the corner cabinet….the very same machine dh and I bought together all those years ago….we were gifted Liberty’s vouchers as a wedding present and we spent it on the pasta maker and a couscoussier….the pot is used very regularly but the pasta gadget has been hiding for a very loooooooooooooong time….anyways , dd14 just has to have a go at almost everything …and why not? …she has all the time in the world or so her sisters claim…she does not go to school…..well, lets not go there but yeah she has time to do the things she fancies during the day…and the more boring stuff like studying she does in the evening when the house is quiet…she is a night owl you see….she got the recipe from ‘youtube university’…another family joke….is there anything you can no learn from watching youtube videos?…..I doubt it….

The quilting set I found in a car boot sale a while ago…..one of those with pattern fabric and all….and the pattern is for a romper for dd3…I enrolled on an online sewing class for £6…yes £6!!! ….craftsy is great like that….I get to watch the video tutorials as often as I need and the pattern is included plus a bonus dress pattern…..a bargain if you ask me…

Weekending….

maybe I should call it Sunday post cause Saturday was as lazy a day as they come….a bit, and I mean very little, of  crochet, quick burgers for dinner and not much else….

Today, on the contrary, was a much more productive day……Just after breakfast we have made our way to the allotment not wanting to miss on any sunshine ….back breaking work but so rewarding……preparing the beds for planting next week insh’Allah…..plain hard fork, hoe and rake work followed by barrows of top soil and mulching….oh and the best bit was saved till the end….we’ve planted two plum trees!!!!!

Looking at the pictures one would think that dh has done all the work but someone has to hold the camera it’s what I say….plus I got us all a take away….

All in all, a very productive and chillaxing day…perfect combination if you ask me…tabarak Allah.

P.S I got the trees from here…excellent service and very good value…highly recommend them.

A before and after…..

A boring wall on the outside of my under the stairs workspace/hidefromall room….initially I wanted to hang up the big white board on it but dh said plaster boards are a nightmare to work with….what about painting it with blackboard paint….no, too drastic…what if we don’t like it? ….well, because I know that democracy does not work in our place I went for the next best solution….compromise……

A bit of washi tape to mark out zones and stop unnecessary fights and you are done!!!

Pretty things….

that I love Spring is the understatement of the century…….nothing beats going out in the morning to see what changes have taken place during the night…..I even stop to take pictures so I can look at them during the day or even last think at night….

SubhanAllah…amazing what a difference a few hours can make…..I love Camelia Japonicas ….such intense colours…..tabarak Allah

The other pretty things that surround me these days are these…..the not so classic granny squares I’m busy crocheting….

IMG_20150312_134248[1]

I’m doing them at night…when the house is quiet….this project has a deadline….Eid insh’Allah…. for a supermama who is part of the village ….a superwoman who not only helps my dd14 with her maths and sciences but is the best role model my daughters could have….tabarak Allah …such a pretty sister…what an honour to have her in our lives…tabarak ALLAH

And what about these for pretty?!!!

IMG_20150314_100042[1]

Well I guess it’s all debatable after all…ok, maybe they are not the most appealing seeds but they are a pretty new challenge around here….I have never seen Jerusalem artichokes before, let alone taste them…well looks like I’m going to be growing them this year…a learning curve I tell you..I have read up on it quite a lot so let’s see….apparently, they are like gold dust in the gardening world….aren’t I blessed with friends who are happy to share their treasures?

And now we are off to the allotment to pretty up things over there…..hard work but so much pleasure…..I love the time spent at the allotment….my hands are very busy but not as busy as my head planning and dreaming ….I’m so glad dh is able to make most of my plans come true…bless him…..

Seeds here, seeds there….

seeds everywhere….it’s the same routine everyday…as soon as baby is asleep and not a minute later, the two big ones open the garden door and start filling up whatever pots they they find out  there….the bit they like best is dropping the seed and covering it….bless them, such great help….I guess I’m the brains behind it all….today’s labour…..

I was thinking that we need a green house as much as we need a shed on the allotment…where am I supposed to put all this pots? I’m running out of windowsills….alhamdulilah…
