I don’t read enough….

non-fiction books….I can devour fiction of all kinds but when it comes to factual, general knowledge, true books I have to admit that …well… I simply don’t read them and I can’t even remember the last one I held in my hands , let alone read…I love history but even the little history I know has come from historical novels from the likes of Philippa Gregory. I’ve been told that she sticks to ‘what really happened’ but even then is not the same as reading a proper history book, is it?

Looking back, I don’t remember introducing my girls to that genre either…all four (including two year old moppet) are keen readers but they stick to fiction like their mama.

So, this morning I woke up determined to get hold of a good non-fiction book or at least get a few recommendations. Of course ,I immediately thought of google and this is what I came up with…top 10 Non-fiction books ….NO WONDER I DON’T READ NON-FICTION!!!!

So, I now turn to you my dear readers for much needed help…what non fiction book do you thing I or anyone else for that matter should read? Which non-fiction books , in your opinion, should be almost compulsory on my bed side table?

Thanks.

P.S   don’t bother with self-help, diets or cookery books…I’ve read them all…oh so maybe I do read some non-fiction books after all….

Horizontal…

sometimes…just sometimes…specially on grey dull days , one decides to take it easy, real easy…a day in bed is not a rare occurrence at ours…baby enjoys them as much as me…she likes it on mummy’s boat..

It’s been a while since I read an old-fashioned book…one with pages to turn I mean…and baby has a box full of bear books at the moment…she is going through a grizzly phase…

And when she needs a break , treasure hunting in mum’s wardrobe is just the best…

Trending now…

and I AM READY!!

Meet my new BFF…

the kettlebell and DVD  that are going to help me get into shape and gain strength and much more.
Losing weight is one thing and being fit is another. Well, in my case at least..The excess weight is coming off but the flubber remains and at my age gravity seems is  the force to be reckoned with…the bingo wings are jackpot size…ok,I won’t go on because I know you get the picture…
I took my new kettlebell to exercise class last night and learnt some new moves. There are hundreds of moves, exercises and workouts depending on what part of the body you want to concentrate on. Check out youtube, plenty of great workouts…

I bought the DVD because I like doing exercise in front of the big screen in the comfort of my sitting room. I don’t want to be stuck in front of a smaller pc let alone a tablet.

So, bring on Monday, baby’s siesta time… because I’m ready for the workout of my life.

P.S I watched the DVD last night and it is quite strenuous…and that was watching only….

Slowing down…

almost at the very end…

definitely time to come inside and pick up all those WIPs…now, where is that stripy blanket that needs finishing? and the fancy crochet that is to be an heirloom?

Have you come inside yet or are you still enjoying the great outdoors?

Weekending…

The Boris bikes ride in Hyde Park did not happen much to dd12’s annoyance…she reckoned she could do it with broken arm and all but no way…instead she did pedalling of another sort…and didn’t we all have fun!!
Funny how when you are about to board they give you clear instructions about not touching the wild life blah blah blah…well I felt like reporting the wild life myself…they followed us round, getting so close that I feared for my life…well that’s a bit exaggerated but they did get pretty close to pecking us…

We really are enjoying this weekend walks in parks…they moan about the amount of walking but they’ve already asked about which park we are going next weekend so it can’t be that bad…

hyde park

Any recommendations? What London parks do you like for a nice walk with great scenery and plenty of wildlife?
