Blankets and other Winter stuff…

PicMonkey Collage.jpg

It did not take my that long to finish off the granny squares blanket….I tell you the hiding of all those threads is the bit I dislike the most…..

I’ve already started a new blanket….it is not often that I pay for a pattern because let’s be honest pinterest and the net in general is full of free patterns but this one was kind of instant love…..the abacus blanket is different from what I usually crochet and I was ready for something different…it’s fun and that is all that matters right?

Sauerkraut….first time to make it but I know I’m going to love it…..I love pickled vegetables plus I’m on a journey to learn to preserve vegetables and fruits….I HAVE A DREAM you see…..one day I will be self sufficient blah blah blah and the Winter months will be long and I will need vegetablesĀ ….so yeah I will need a pantry full of Sauerkraut and pickles and chutneys and and….and in the meantime I can play around with the allotment surplus…..oh and I need this book.

And the flapjacks? dd15’s made up recipe …she is one clever girl and she wanted to use the pumpkin puree in the freezer so she came up with the flapjacks….

Winter is good…..Alhamdulilah…..

Bit by bit…

granny square by granny square I’ll get there…..and that goes for everything else in my life….slow seems to be the only gear I can do these days….hibernation mode you could say…part of me wants to do it all but the rest just wants to do little…a little bit of this and a little bit of that…

It’s the last WIP….I managed to finish the other blanket!!! The V-stitch one…I even added some pom-poms but a waste of time as the cat pulls them whenever we are not watching….

You will find patterns for both blankets over at Le monde de Sucrette.

My husband…

is building me a green house…..and I can’t wait but it is quite a slow build; firstly because he can only work on the project on Sundays (weather permitting) and secondly because he is a perfectionist…..I mean , he is not the bang some planks together with a couple of nails and then put some glass on top type..oh no, with him everything has to be researched, measured, health and safety approved and only then he will start prepping…..even then he will not just hammer some posts down into the ground….oh no, perfect diameter holes have to be dug and then filled with cement before he can add the post which will hold the structure….so yeah a very slow process….after a few weekends I only have this to show you….but I have faith that once it is done it will be a greenhouse like no other and I will be the happiest woman on theĀ  allotment planet

I was in bed most of last week with a severe case of tonsillitis and decided to do some online shopping….so yeah, all my seeds were ordered and have now been delivered too…..only thing left is potatoes…I’m planting potatoes for the first time so need to do some more research to find out which are best for complete beginners…oh and a trip to a nursery to pick berries…I want to plant raspberries and blueberries in our back garden…next to the strawberries and gooseberries…insh’Allah…..
