It has been a while…

but life is good…Alhamdulilah…

Eid, was different…my good friend’s little daughter died on Arafat day…Alhamdulilah…little one was less than three weeks old and Allah chose that beautiful day to take her with Him…what a test for her parents….what an honour for me to help with the washing of her body on Eid day…what a source of inspiration my friend was…to see her face lit up when she was finally buried….’now she is where she belongs’…

Life is good….Alhamdulilah…

Lots of ups and downs , off(ish),down(ish), sick(ish)…alhamdulilah….usually half term is a very upbeat time in our house but this one is different…alhamdulilah…dd12 ill with a throat infection and me feeling terrible for not taking her to the doctors sooner…the poor thing rose one morning full of ulcers and blisters in her mouth so yeah not just a sore throat ….ah being a mother is hard but alhamdulilah…

An other stuff in between but alhamdulilah and then yesterday out of the blue…little H….my little one’s best friend…my good friend’s son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes…poor little thing is in hospital…..Alhamdulilah…

Life is good alhamdulilah….alhamdulilah…

Taking it easy on Tuesday…

It was never intentional…never planned…but it turns out that Tuesdays are my easy days…It might have something to do with the fact that Mondays follow the weekend so the house needs some sorting and shaping plus some tutoring and food shopping , Wednesdays exercise class and crèche play for baby, Thursdays more tutoring and shaping the house for the crochet class and a meaningful outing for baby and I…

I noticed the pattern recently and even my friends are texting or whatsupping me ‘are you in bed?’ on a Tuesday…lol….Mary has noticed too but then last night she tempted me with an outing to Hobby Craft…come on who can refuse that!!!  So it was decided last night that today it would be half half….really easy almost horizontal morning and then after duhur some craft shopping and a cuppa in a fancy coffee shop…..

We take worm catching very seriously over here….and to my friend’s Mary’s shock horror the house work doesn’t even enter my mind today…we will eat don’t take me wrong but dinner will be a simple affair that will be considered later much later in the day…hopefully with the help of dd12 who always comes to my rescue….

I’m getting very good at finding sunny spots to ensure I get at least 10 minutes of sun on my face and hands …great for vitamin D and general wellbeing boost…

I’m sure you all agree with me that knowing when to slow down is as important if not more as being effective on productive days….it’s a balancing act that has to be taken seriously if one is to serve…

I got my Mojo back…

my creative juices are flowing once again…all it’s taken is a visit to my favourite craft shop…well and the end of the nice weather too….there I was surrounded by yarn in all colours, shades, textures….oh the possibilities…

So, I’m rushing to finish this vintage style blanket…this one is for a special girl who happens to be my niece…she wanted one like her cousin’s and of course I was happy to oblige but it just wasn’t happening fast enough…until today that is…should be ready to send in the post by the end of the week…. a few more lines and tidy the ends…

My hands are itching to get on with the next project…a patchwork style kind of crochet quilt…biggish squares…this one is for my nephew…I’m so excited…I’ve never gifted anyone outside of my immediate family with one of my blankets…hope they like them…

not too sure about the colours now…maybe it needs another colour …sometimes I just have to start and see where it takes me…..can’t wait for crochet tomorrow…my friend Mary has promised to teach me the square I need for this project…she is a star and I’m a fast learner ;)…..

Oh and I am also going to attempt to knit my first cowl….I saw this beautiful wools in red, black and purple…but had to stop myself from buying it …the thing is , I have never in my life knitted beyond straight rows to practise….but guess what? Mary says she will help me too!!!!!  So we are going back to the shop on Saturday…..I can envision my girls with a cowl each…

Oh…. I can’t wait to dive right into it….oh and there’s talk of quilting in the air…someone stop me…lol….

P.S… I could have staged/made it all pretty the stripy blanket but can’t be bothered these days…I’m done with perfect…it’s just not me 😉

October…

October

Crispy air and azure skies, High above, a white cloud flies, Bright as newly fallen snow. Oh the joy to those who know October!
Colors bright on bush and tree. Over the weedy swamp, we see A veil of purple and brown and gold. Thy beauty words have never told.  October!
Scolding sparrows on the lawn, Rabbits frisking home at dawn, Pheasants midst the sheaves of grain, All in harmony acclaim, October!
Brown earth freshly turned by plow, Apples shine on bended bough, Bins o’erflowed with oats and wheat, And satisfaction reigns complete.  October!
Radiant joy is everywhere. Spirits in tune to the spicy air, Thrill in the glory of each day. Life’s worth living when we say, October!

October…..half term….build up to Eid….Eid…parties…outings….short days…busy month ahead insh’Allah…
I asked for your Non-Fiction recommendations and I’ve taken notes….this is the list of ‘real books’ I am hoping to read through…October reading list, sounds grand doesn’t it?

And now I’m off to the library to get some books for baby and who knows I might get her a book on worms 😉 After all she is very interested on them whenever we are in the garden…interest led teaching I think they call it….ha ha ha….
