Back from a mini break…

time away with family….time in what was once home….almost like travelling back in time….of course a lot has changed but also a lot has stayed the same….the views, the laid back pace, the long lunches…five days packed with good food, laughter, great excursions (Deba, Mutriku and Zarauz on the coast) mountain climbing, bike rides and family….

a great mini break but it is so nice to be back…I must confess I’m not a traveler…In fact, I hate travelling …..I’m home buddy…….I’m glad I went though…..

Wishing you all a peaceful and productive week…I’ll be busy at the allotment tidying up….

Salaams y hasta la vista,

Ines.

Half Term…

so far…the good bits only…and in no particular order…

dd12 is doing her usual holiday gig of baking non stop…

plenty of gardening of course…the last two days were simply lovely but winter was back this morning…dh bought me a fig tree…he is so romantic like that…’cheaper than a bunch of roses’…his words…

some thrifting…I’m really happy with the blue with white flowers skirt…I wouldn’t normally pay £8 for a second-hand skirt but this was the right size, length…quite a expensive one …anyways it’s mine and I love it….

more thrifting today…this time baby was the lucky one…I love the peasant dress and the shorts are cute too…and this girl can never have enough books…

fried eggs and mushrooms for a carbs free breakfast…not bad…

dd12 is trying to teach dd2 to use watercolours but she is not an easy pupil…she insists on using water only…so stubborn she is ….

How is your half term so far?

Salaams y hasta la vista,

Ines

Hasta pronto

Inshallah tomorrow morning we are off to San Sebastian (Basque Country)for our summer holidays. We will be staying at my parents for over 2 weeks and as much as I love my folks I know from now that they will drive me insane.
Dh and the kids love it over there. So I don’t mind it too much as long as dh is happy and relaxed, which rarely happens here in London, and the girls get lots of ‘grandparents time’.
The biggest downside to going back to my roots is what it does to my iman. Thinking about it , the hadith about staying and living with your muslim community comes to my mind. So true; little by little I can see my iman weakening as a result of being far from my muslim friends, neighbours, family…What I might have thought had no influence on me or my iman suddenly starts playing up in my mind.
I hope and pray that Allah keeps me always strong no matter where I may be, ameen.
So my dear readers, friends and sisters I bid you farewell till the end of the month inshallah.
Oh and before I forget…yes the customary picture, lol. A picture of mii according to my girls. They reassure me that it looks exactly like me. Whatever!!!

This is mii when I play nintendo wii. I am getting very good at tennis.
