Crochet matters….

Almost there x2 plus a new project altogether…..just because I don’t stick to finishing one things before starting another……I’m getting used to it ūüôā

This bolero type cardi for little one…..just a couple of buttons needed and tidy up the joints….

WP_20150430_001[1]

Pattern from here……dead easy and fast….It’s my second one and something tells me not the last….thinking of a creamy one for Eid day with a pretty dress…insh’Allah

A shrug for dd14….dead easy too and fast….see a theme forming here? :)…..yes , that’s me…simple uncomplicated projects….cause life is complicated enough….

WP_20150430_11_02_44_Pro[1]

not sure it needs a collar as suggested on the¬† pattern though…..it kind of naturally folds back…..less is more….me thinks……

And the new project…..

WP_20150430_13_33_54_Pro[1]

just started it but already hooked….this beautiful shawl…..

Etsy_ad_blue

I can tell you the main body is very straight forward uncomplicated…will let you know how I get on as I go along and move on to colour changing …..so far so good…

A few simple ingredients….

and lots of fun guaranteed……

A bossy older girl telling you what to do….a few sticks ….some soil……and water, as much as you can get before an adult interferes…..what do you get? Mud-pies…..messy times…..oh and the annoying little bro helps too….

And while all this is going on outside I’m crocheting away…working on a summer bolero type cardi for the pretty dresses that I’m hopping to sew for little girl….

It’s all happening……

No time to waste and more importantly not an inch to waste….and more importantly I love every second of it….and my visits to the allotment in the afternoons relax me and bring joy to my days too…..

Things around here….

PicMonkey Collage

It’s not all about growing around here…..did I tell you that this mama is back to sewing classes? No? Well , now you know…..Every Monday….my bag is ready….like the fabric combination? for a romper suit for little one….

I’m a cheat……pizza ‘not from scratch’…….it tasted good though……I used Panini bread as a base but the sauce is my own…..the pesto isn’t……but I cut up all the veg……who cares?!

Wishing you all a week week……

P.S …the base for the allotment shed is finally ready…perfectionists are kind of slow if you ask me…..so next on dh’s agenda, putting up the shed…..insh’Allah

Poached eggs and broad beans….

and other gardening matters….

First time planting broad beans ¬†but I have read up on it enough to know that they are easy targets of certain bugs…leaf blight to be more exact….alhamdulilah I have also come up with a solution insh’Allah…..

According to my trusted gardening¬†book¬† planting poached eggs plants nearby is as good a prevention as it gets. The poached eggs attract hoverflies, which feed on blackfly…subhan’Allah. So yeah, off to the allotment in a little while to plant the poached eggs plants….

WP_20150414_14_28_43_Pro[1]

I’m hopping this summery weather stays for a while because all the plants on the windowsills are thriving and I might get away with planting them straight on the allotment without the hardening them off first boring chore…just hate the whole in and out palaver….we’ll see…..

WP_20150414_001[1]

Not only my tomatoes are thriving in the sun…my dd3 is making the most of it too……

Oh can’t wait for that first bbq….that first breakfast al fresco…..I know I know this is just a tease…it is not summer proper…but this is London folks….this could be the only summer we get…24 d e g r e e s……..well I will not let it pass me by……:)

Enjoy the summer while it lasts ….

Quiet over here….

usually holidays around here are busy times……but not this time…..big exams approaching and the two older girls are locked up in their rooms. voluntarily may I add, revising like their life depended on it….I wish them all the best with their exams insh’Allah but I miss them….I only see them very briefly at meal times…..bless them …tabarak Allah…

On Tuesday I visited a friend who happens to live on the other side of the world…well it feels like it….the drive wasn’t too bad actually and it was all worth it….so nice to catch up and just chillax………next time I see her she’ll be the mama of a new baby boy insh’Allah….not long to go tabarak Allah….

Yesterday, I took the two younger ones and their friend to Woburn Safari Park….a total success…we all had a great time…..didn’t take many pics as I was doing the driving but here are a few I managed…

The monkeys, as usual , were our favourites….one never tires of their naughtiness, mannerism and general cheekiness….

Plot 29…

Dh and I have been quite busy at the allotment this morning and ¬†best part of the afternoon too…how time flies when we are on our plot…so much to do….

Weather wise ,today, was the¬†only¬†decent day of the long weekend ….I was expecting loads of other allotmentiers there but there was hardly anyone…So, I just got on with transferring the broad beans, courgettes and pumpkins from the greenhouse, a.k.a a hot sunny windowsill, to the raised beds…

PicMonkey Collage

They say experience is the best teacher and I agree….see how there aren’t many courgette plants? Well, I have many more indoors that need hardening off first and then they’ll be ready to join the rest at the allotment….the thing is that in the past few years I have had too many courgettes all at once and to avoid veg gluts, this year I have gone for making successional sowings ( sow a new batch every three weeks or so ) to extend the growing season into summer.

While I was doing my planting and other bits and bobs, dh was also very busy at his end of the plot….the man has worked his socks off to lay down the base for our ‘shedtobe’….we are still on the lookout for the perfect shed for us but as we know the maximum size we are allowed, no harm in preparing ahead…..

shed platform

Some new seedlings will be going out tomorrow …..just a couple of hours to begin with…just the harden them off ….gently, gradually….Also tomorrow more indoor sowing …insh’Allah

The planning stage is not my forte but I find it necessary now that I have a bigger plot….I have to make sure that I’m growing efficiently and that the whole plot is being used….all year round if possible….so much to learn…..insh’Allah…..this book¬†¬†is helping me a lot but not as much as observing what everyone else is doing on their plots…….they are all so generous with their advice…alhamdulilah

WP_20150405_17_17_10_Pro[1]

Looks like the weather is going to get warmer this coming week so insh’Allah taking advantage of the holidays I will be spending a fair amount in my garden and the allotment….happy days ahead insh’Allah
