and I love the fact that I was able to work out the pattern by myself…inspiration from here.….not sure what is going to be….a large cushion….a blanket….hanging decoration? …we shall see….

I’m dead tired from all the Eid celebration partying yesterday and soon a couple of friends are coming to help me finish off all the cakes but still I find time to crochet……I need crochet in my life…when I’m tired…when I’m stressed….when I’m fed up….

I leave you with some Eid related pics…..

Eid day….

spent with friends and family….prayers out in the open in a nearby park….rides for the children and the not so young….back home for a breakfast full of homemade baking…gifts opening afterwards…and friends for a bbq soon after….a mad house full of laughter, good food, friends old and new, lots of reminiscing. my  oh my how much have the children grown….so nice to see them turning into very confident young men and women…and plenty of harmless matchmaking…have I every told you that I’m the group’s Mrs Bennet?….“Certainly, my dear, nobody said there were; but as to not meeting with many people in this neighbourhood, I believe there are few neighbourhoods larger. I know we dine with four-and-twenty families.”

Eid day….

Ramadan is over….finished…went so quick…subhan’Allah…

Yesterday we marked the end of the holly month with the festivities of Eid…a what a great day we all had. Up bright and early to go to the park for Eid prayers…lots of familiar faces and plenty of non familiar but still a deep sense of belonging….all there to celebrate and pray together…the children could hardly sit still and how could they possibly when they could see just a few yards away the enormous bouncy castles……

After greetings of Eid mubarak and sweets sharing back home to open the presents and start of the brunch bbq…dh was dying to get his apron on and do the honours….and what a great job he did mash’Allah….oh the presents….aren’t I a lucky woman ….what do you think….

The evening was reserved for friends….ice cream, frozen yogurts, drinks and doughnuts at the mall….

I hope you all had a good Eid too….

Eid Mubarak

As you can see, the little one still hard at work making Eid decorations. I am going to start pretty soon on the cakes. Well, not that soon cause I’m still on the ingredients list. But knowing me and from past experience I’ll only get into full steam when the day is announced. That’s me the eternal procrastinator…

I have decided on an English theme (minus a plate of Algerian cakes courtesy of in laws) for the open house Eid breakfast straight after the mosque. Inshallah, there will be home made carrot cake, lemon muffins, bought chocolate cake and yogurt marmalade cake. Wish me luck!!!!

I’m not looking forward to all the baking and the state of the kitchen (I’m trying so hard not to conjure up a mental image ) but in all honesty I can’t wait to receive the guests and get into the party spirit. Also we are all going out for lunch afterwards so I’ll get my treat too!

What are you all doing , inshallah? Let us know and don’t forget the pics.
