When life gives you red cabbages…

follow the simplest recipe and make sauerkraut……

I harvested this medium sized cabbages on Sunday….I love the whole massaging the cabbage for a good ten minutes to release its juices….and fermented foods are good for you….and they taste great too…why not give it a go?…..dead easy I swear…three ingredients…..try it …you know you wanna….

I love mine with grilled meat or fish…even with salads…..

Next I want to try it with white cabbage and carrots…..

Blankets and other Winter stuff…

It did not take my that long to finish off the granny squares blanket….I tell you the hiding of all those threads is the bit I dislike the most…..

I’ve already started a new blanket….it is not often that I pay for a pattern because let’s be honest pinterest and the net in general is full of free patterns but this one was kind of instant love…..the abacus blanket is different from what I usually crochet and I was ready for something different…it’s fun and that is all that matters right?

Sauerkraut….first time to make it but I know I’m going to love it…..I love pickled vegetables plus I’m on a journey to learn to preserve vegetables and fruits….I HAVE A DREAM you see…..one day I will be self sufficient blah blah blah and the Winter months will be long and I will need vegetables¬†….so yeah I will need a pantry full of Sauerkraut and pickles and chutneys and and….and in the meantime I can play around with the allotment surplus…..oh and I need this book.

And the flapjacks? dd15’s made up recipe …she is one clever girl and she wanted to use the pumpkin puree in the freezer so she came up with the flapjacks….

Winter is good…..Alhamdulilah…..
